BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

  • C.A.M.P. works with the Department of State and Health Services to assure that the strict standards required for state licensing are fair and thorough. The standards encompass all phases of camping and help to ensure that every camp in Texas maintains a safe, healthful camping environment.

  • C.A.M.P. has a well established legislative agenda. Through regular updates on vital public policy issues and a set agenda ensures C.A.M.P. is proactive rather than reactive in the legislative arena.

  • Camping Directory - C.A.M.P. creates a directory of member camps to help assist families in finding a camp to meet each individual camper's wants and needs.

LEGISLATIVE AGENDA
  • Continued involvement with the Department of State Health Services to ensure passage of the revised Youth Camp Regulations and to make sure that camps have a voice in affairs that affect camping.

  • Monitor and influence legislation regarding school start dates passed by the 77th legislature.

  • Research amusement Ride status and its effect on youth camps. Work with the Department of State Health Services to formulate inspection procedures that satisfy the law.

  • Monitor legislation regarding the use of water and the regulations regarding the certification and inspection of youth camp water systems.

  • Keep up-to-date on the direction of school tax reform and its effect on camps.

  • Monitor tort reform legislation.

  • Finally, provide a very valuable management resources for C.A.M.P. members.

Networking- C.A.M.P. meetings are where members meet in the fall and spring to share experiences, expertise and to discuss the past, current and future needs of the camp industry.

Education - C.A.M.P.ference utilizes recognized speakers, to host an educational events full of information and relevant seminars on current camp issues.

Trade Show- Vendors serving the camp industry come and demonstrate their products, services and expertise to CAMPference attendees.

Tour camps - The fall meeting is hosted by C.A.M.P.'s president at his/her camp. Therefore it is a great opportunity to tour different camps and get great ideas.
